The iconic movie 'Brazil' re-imagined

I set Brazil in 1980 in a bio-dome in Chernobyl and it's outskirts after nuclear fallout. Through my design process I explored what a deadened consumerist society might look like amidst a population ridden with mass control, a bourgeois culture, an angry underbelly, and a destitute proletariat sect of people going through the motions of life. I had been researching Chernobyl & Fordlandia, two places that were built for a utopian ideal and subsequently broken. I also am interested in diverging from Terry Gilliam’s rich visuals as much as possible while exploring a gritty contemporary landscape such as Chernobyl or even Detroit. Sam’s dreamscapes are something I delineated from this world with and show the abstract, creative, and storybook world he has in his dreamlife. I am interested in using animation, even channeling Richard Linklater’s 2001 film, ‘Waking Life’ for the dream sequences.
